Buddy Walk

The annual Aim High Buddy Walk is held yearly in the month of October.  In celebration of National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, individuals with Down syndrome, their friends and families, and many other supporters gather together to walk in the annual Aim High Buddy Walk

Organized by the Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center (DSAHRC) and the National Down Syndrome Society, the Buddy Walk promotes awareness of the capabilities and contributions of individuals with Down syndrome in their communities.  It is a wonderful, heart-warming event in which hundreds of people participate each year.

Individuals with Down syndrome are surrounded by their circle of friends, which is witnessed by public officials and TV crews.  There is a pleasant one-mile walk, followed by a celebration picnic that includes music, snacks and beverages, and lots of entertainment and activities.

Although donations are always appreciated, the Aim High Buddy Walk is not a fundraising event.  Sponsorship and registration are not necessary.

This is an opportunity, whether you yourself have Down syndrome, know someone who does, or just want to show your support, to come and join us in walking together to enlighten and encourage the community to recognize the individuality, uniqueness, and capabilites of individuals with Down syndrome.

Flyers for the Aim High Buddy Walk will be mailed out in August.  If you would like to be included on the mailing list, please contact the DSAHRC at (518) 438-1113 or at
