I would like to write an article about an event that my life long friend Megan asked me to be a part of. Megan and I have been friends for a long time…all our lives. Megan does not have a disability. The reason why I chose Megan to be my friend is because she is a good role model and she is someone I look up to because she is kind, she is respectful, she is successful as an athlete, student, person and friend. Megan and I have a close friendship. We do a lot of activities together such as shopping and going out to dinner and hanging out.
Recently, Megan shared exciting news with me…she was getting married (2004), and more exciting was to hear that I was going to be a bridesmaid. I never was a bridesmaid before so even though this was my first time, I really enjoyed it. It was so great that I hope to be asked again by my other close friends.
As a bridesmaid, I had to get together with the other bridesmaids to plan her shower. I had to help her find dresses, go to fittings, and go to the shower and the rehearsal dinner, all before the wedding.
At the shower I had to greet people, shower Megan with gifts and share in her excitement. I felt beside myself because I was ecstatic because I couldn’t believe that I was part of a wedding for my life long friend, Megan.
Actually, I was also beside myself at the fitting because I was very much shorter than the other bridesmaids and it was very expensive. They cut half of my dress off to make it fit. But, I looked great anyway as did everyone.
The rehearsal dinner was enjoyable. I got to sit with other bridesmaids and got to know Megan’s friends. Before the dinner, we rehearsed the wedding. I couldn’t believe that I was the first one down the aisle, but I knew that everyone would be proud of me going first. My father was a little emotional seeing me dressed up and grown up.
The wedding was unbelievable. I am waiting for my moment to come because I want to be like Megan and I know that I will be a hard worker, a good wife, and pay my bills on time, and love my husband until death parts us.
